Looks like a refinement / carryover from the current Macan / Panamera - which offer something very similar.
Interesting that Porsche have effectively U-turned on 'best practice' - the Panamera was launched with more buttons in the centre console than you could possibly cope with on the guidance...
I've read (US) - " The price of the 2024 Porsche Macan EV is expected to start around $80,000 and go up to $100,000 depending on the trim and options. We estimate that the Porsche Macan EV will start at around $80,000, slightly cheaper than the base model of Porsche's flagship EV, the Taycan. "
I declined the invite 3 weeks ago - my opening gambit started with "You must be joking..." - sales folk are all about selling boxes these days never mind the trials and tribulations of ownership of an EV - particularly a Porsche one.
Cash cow - no need to replace the Macan so soon - is my guess. Also some doubt in Porsche's minds how it might sell with a plan to offer both ICE and EV side by side. Not sure there'll be a stampede in UK for the EV given we have (stupidly) pushes the ICE deadline out to 2035 (previously 2030)...
My dealer told me it was delayed 1 year. It may well get launched but it won't hit the roads until 2024.
Many issues I think - 718 EV tooling (Boxster ICE production stopped), Taycan headaches, Cayenne EV and K1 all on the pipeline. Too much going on and general manufacturing challenges.
I was up close to 2 Macan EVs (and a 911 Hybrid) a few months ago in Edinburgh. The ghastly lower bumper headlights were disguised then as I don't remember seeing them (need to check my photos and video when I have less time to do so).
Launch for the this year has been delayed and won't be...
No new orders for 718s will be taken for the ICE versions for delivery in 2024.
Will restart along side 718 EV orders and delivery in 2025.
Must be major retooling to accommodate.
I saw two in Edinburgh (see my post) and despite the disguise it will look quite fine - definitely a sloped hatch but not dopey looking like the green render above.
Be careful that your deposit is an actual deposit - dealer can't physically do that until the car has been launched and you have an actual order form. They can take a pre-deposit from you.
Audio e-tron would be a useful comparison for range impact as it's offered a towbar from day 1.
Agree that it won't be great and probably explains why Porsche has made it a challenge even to get a rear cycle carrier.
Not sure I'd agree with 'smaller' - I had a Pana ST (4 seat config) prior to my Taycan so have lived and breathed it. Ingress / egress for sure is better (different roof line) on the Pana. Interior wise and physical dimensions are so close (in fact the Taycan is slightly wider at a certain...
