I know it can be worse, but, I bought this car for its 800v charge curve. If I knew going in that the charging networks can't provide it, I might have bought something else.
Yes, the MB Norfolk Premium Outlets location is 800v 400 kW Alpitronic CCS chargers and I have seen video evidence of someone charging at peak-ish charge curves for the Macan EV at that location.
This is a real thing. My insurance company and I are currently discussing cost-of-replacement insurance for the car (my policy renews in August) and the dealership has estimated it at $16k more than I paid for a 2024 for an identical spec new car.
I bought my Macan for cash and I can't disagree with your logic. My logic was slightly different.
I'm away from the car for long periods and milage will be mixed. I think the Macan EV can easily last me 5 to 10 years as a run-around-town sport utility vehicle before the tech is so outdated that...
I think an observation that was not obvious to me from previous information presented here is that ABRP Pro with real time data integration actually did a better job at estimating battery % at destination than the PCM. This may be related to my location running around the eastern shore and route...
I'm dribbling out notes about my highway trips in the Macan EV, but one note is that I ran ABRP Pro with real-time data integration, Porsche Navigation, and Waze at the same time. ABRP was just much better for directions and route planning than Porsche navigation. Because Porsche navigation just...
Yes. Across 2,000 miles of DC fast charging, 2 sessions were basically at the curve potential for the car. I think we covered this in the rest of the thread.
It was most depressing to see the slow charging rate at the brand new Mercedes Benz charging station at Norfolk Premium Outlets. If I...
I didn't do enough testing to know whether it is limited to 1 session per day. It could be 30 minutes of charging every 5 hours.
But it was smart enough to give me the first minute free on the 2nd session after the first session had 29 minutes of charging.
I did this once during Friday's trip and it didn't work any more! We did 29 minutes at the charger and then I pulled the plug, took my spouse to a bathroom at WaWa, and then drove back to finish the charging. And I got charged for every minute over 30 minutes for the two combined sessions at...
I have to say that I think people who prefer the US spec ICE Macan T to the Macan EV are crazy, *except* I completely understand some people not wanting to deal with the "early adopter" issue with the EV tech. I do not believe my wife could stomach the Macan EV without me helping through it...
Yes, the graph is my expectation. The reality was that almost all my DC fast charging sessions hit a maximum of 130 kW.
There is a real difference: the car can't go from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes at the reduced rate. So, EA charging sessions from 20% to 80% were not "free" (included in the 1 yr...
Another observation from my 2 19-hour east coast I95 runs in the past 30 days is that ACC just shuts off and ends acceleration of the car sometimes. This happens in portions of highway redesign and when the software thinks there is a potential for a left off-ramp.
Long term, this means the...
In the Pacific Northwest and the Southeast of the USA, it is very possible to have the battery pack, motors, and virtually all aspects of the car 3rd-party serviced and replaced for Teslas, Bolts, Leafs, F150 Lightening, Hummer, Cadillac, etc. And Tesla surfaces a lot of information about the...
Dave, the problem with the car is that it doesn't tell me enough information about what is happening with the battery and charging. It's the same problem I've had with it since first purchase.
Instead of you *guessing* about what might be happening to my car from years of experience, Porsche...
Guys, I just did a 19 hour, overnight run starting at 6:53 pm and ending at 2 pm ET. I was usually the only car at the charging site. Sometimes, there was 1 other car, but usually not the entire time I was at the site. I started with a 100% AC, level 2 charged pack and the first stop was the...
Before the advice starts in earnest ... it's hot on the east coast (the location of my recent trip). The car's battery was always in the ideal range or hotter to start the charging process. This is not a preconditioning problem. And, similarly, the battery SoC at charging start was as low as...
I just finished 2,000 miles of DC fast charging on the road, and the one stand out issue is that I never seem to see high throughput for DC fast charging. The situation was so bad yesterday that I intended to take the car in for service to test it. But, it finally put up high numbers at a EA...
