Cayenne EV real world range test: 350 miles at 70mph

It's still masked in the video (and the others on YouTube that came out in the last couple of days). Almost all of the "headlights" are transfers, even over the actual glass portions. And I think the horizontal lines below it are also disguises. When it's finally unmasked I suspect it will look...

CAR Magazine Test. Macan #2 best SUV

Intrigued if there's some sort of funny business going on here - the word "Macan" doesn't appear on that page. It's from March, originally, then updated in October. Have you got an older version of the page? Not vitally important, but my curiosity has been piqued.

Macan EV Poll: Type and frequency of software-related issues you have had with your vehicle?

I defer to your knowledge in the car sphere. Without wanting to say “but another thing”… Something not being permitted or illegal doesn’t mean it doesn’t creep into the system inadvertently. Boeing’s MAX issues provide a recent example of a similar, though not identical issue that shouldn’t be...

Macan EV Poll: Type and frequency of software-related issues you have had with your vehicle?

If "software is absolutely deterministic" then that time I spent learning Functional Programming was probably wasted :) I hope there aren't any multi-threaded systems in the car-facing bit of the Macan, but if there are then there's a million ways to get non-deterministic results. Simplest...

Macan EV Poll: Type and frequency of software-related issues you have had with your vehicle?

For those of you saying "it's not a software problem, since everyone would have it" - have you never debugged an "illogical" issue where you can't replicate it? Software should be deterministic, but when you blend it with real-time sensors and real-world, messy data it definitely can behave...

Cruise control wand vs Steering wheel

Each to their own. For me the Porsche setup is my favourite and keeps the wheel button count lower. (And that’s not saying you’re wrong, obvs, just that I like the stalk way more than the button way)

That feeling you get after a month of ownership that you really know the dimensions of your car…

Traded in my Macan Turbo got the G580

True at the time, but I believe they've upped the limit to 4.25 tonnes now (from 3.5) which is bonkers. Our Carthago motorhome (based on the big Sprinter chassis) is 3.25 and sleeps four in comfort.

Porsche Pulls The Plug On EV’s

Yup. Left the UK a while ago, but one of the multitudinous bits of short-sightedness that drove me mad was the fuel price policy. Fuel duty was supposed to rise each year, but for many years now "to protect the motorist" the duty has been frozen. Indeed the previous administration cut it and the...

Increase space between brake and accelerator pedals?

Caterham 7 drivers will tell you to take your shoes off. Seriously, that was the only way I could drive my brother's one. I've got reasonably large feet, wider than average for sure. Not having any problem in the Macan.

The Cayenne Electric 2026 interior of the "future"- Thoughts?

Slow to get started, but covers a lot of tech stuff.

The Cayenne Electric 2026 interior of the "future"- Thoughts?

I believe it's still masked, if you mean the front of the car. If you mean the UI then please disregard.

The Cayenne Electric 2026 interior of the "future"- Thoughts?

After seeing its implementation in Aston Martins, I think I’m okay with skipping Ultra. And I’m not so much an Apple fanboy as a fanman.

Yet another one week review. 4S

Updates after our Tofino trip: Such a smooth machine. Effortless in all situations. Absolutely perfect kilometre-muncher. Fun on the twisty stuff as well. But a few more trivial issues. The main one being the seat-belt pre-tensioning theatre a few seconds after setting off. Catches us out...

Can you set the car temperature and heated seats from the iPhone app?

The most recent version of the app claims to offer a little bit more functionality in this area. It installed this morning on my iPhone, check the app store, as the kids say. You can control the climate from the main screen. Still not as granular as OP would like, but small steps, eh?

How low do you go with battery before recharging?

Set limit to 80%. Plug in at night. If on a road trip then modify somewhat based on location of chargers. Don’t fret about it.

Yet another one week review. 4S

A few updates: Certificate activated itself yesterday morning. Miles away from any EC chargers right now - in sunny (ha!) Ucluelet - will test on Monday. Water ingress into boot/trunk on opening is a thing for sure, at least here in the very damp West Coast of Vancouver Island. Enjoyed the...

Tesla Supercharging appears to be live now (Tesla app screenshot)

Since I’m bored of pictures of adapters, here’s a picture of my charge test today in wind-swept Whistler. It’s a new charger, I was already at 80, just checking basic operation before a jaunt to Tofino tomorrow. Worked at second attempt. Not overly concerned about the rate, it is as the kids...

    Aftermarket Wheels

    Aftermarket Wheels

I just put a picture of Porsche’s cheapest 20” wheels on the “random pictures” thread this morning. Won’t be as cheap as third-party I’m sure, but might be a useful baseline for comparison...
