Replacement Fob?

Has anyone tried to get a replacement fob for the Macan EV? We had a bag stolen at a hotel recently that had our 2nd fob in it.

I hear Porsche wants something like $900 for a replacement fob (?!?). No way that's happening. We'll live with one fob before we pay that. Seeing mixed info on locksmith replacements. Seems confusing. Apparently there's the fob shell, the inside electronics, and the programming to the car? Can all of that be obtained without going through Porsche and paying their exorbitant prices?

A criminal has the key to your car, you only have a single key and you're worried about $900 on an 100K car? I would be at the dealer same day reprogramming my key and ordering a new one.

It was at a hotel 1000 miles away. Was in a different car when it was stolen (Porsche was home in the garage), no ID in the bag and nothing else stolen. I'll take my chances on that part. Thanks for your concern tho.

I think FOBS are expensive for most cars. Same price for a Jag FOB, for example.

That is why corporate sells Lost FOB coverage. The only proper way to do it is to get it from the dealer and that involves FOB hardware and then programming, so $900 is the right amount for FOB and Labor. These are shipped from Germany, and my dealer has those arrive on a schedule as many people lose them and they get in line on the schedule for next shipment to arrive to have one. I have trackers attached to each FOB but of course if thieves stole the bag, they will cut and through those away, so that is not a solution but the tracker helped us for example track a lost FOB at a movie theatre.

Maybe your dealer will somehow sell you the fob coverage after the fact if they’re light on their quota for the month & they like you? It comes with additional benefits IIRC. You’ll likely take a hit at trade-in time if there’s only one fob, but maybe not $900 worth.

I reside in southern California; May 2025 I purchased a additional key FOB for my Macan EV. FOB cost $551.87 (out the door) and programing the vehicle to recognize the FOB was another $330. It took around 6 weeks to get the FOB from Germany

Count yourself lucky. Replacement FOB for our MB GLC300 is over $1K

Sounds like the digital key option pays for itself! I think I’ll throw my fobs in the safe…always have the phone in my pocket in any case.

Yep. I just wish it worked on the 2025's.
