Typically I charge my EV turbo to 80%. I’ve never had any issues with the car in 14 months ( apart from a regular miss-read of speed signs). It’s had all the updates and the recall for shelf hinge and some other check/ replacement.

This week we scheduled a road trip from UK to France and with a long drive to the train under the Channel. thought, for peace of mind, I’d give us the option of a good drive in France before the need to recharge. So I set a 05:30 departure and plugged in my home charger. Went to the car at 05:15 unlocked it and the dash lit up as normal, 100% charge showed and range was 335 miles. Good, I thought as I selected Drive. But the car remained stationary 😡. No Drive and no Reverse. Tried multiple locks and unlocks. Moving away from the car more than 30 metres and waiting for 15 mins.

I phoned Porsche main number and they said no option but to have AA breakdown service attend. By the time they arrived it was already past our due boarding time and all seemed hopeless.

But the brilliant tech ran a full diagnostic and found no fault codes. And the 12V battery was fully charged. So he decided to disconnect the negative 12V battery lead and wait 15 mins. On reconnection, drive was restored and everything was back to normal. We drove off 5 hours late but rebooked a later shuttle (+£91) and headed of to France without any further problem. 4 days and 800 miles later there has been no issue.

Hope this is helpful to anyone that charges to 100% and finds no drive.

Thanks to Porsche and AA👍

That is bizarre and there should be no correlation between the two. Charging to 100% for use on the same day is perfectly normal and acceptable.

12v disconnect is a tried and tested "fix" for Porsche EVs - notably the Taycan. Locking and leaving for several hours is another.

The camera misread is more likely to be due to poor mapping data and or missing signage (this is common place on various Porsche models annoyingly).

Send Porsche the bill for missing your original booking.
