  1. BEWARE OF RATS! caused chassis failure after chewing canles

Yep, typically soy. As a bonus........the Great Stuff foam that everyone uses to plug holes to keep mice/rats out............yep, also made of Soy. It's like plugging hole with tacos to keep me out.
  2. Software updates and faults

I sure hope Rivian does a better job than Ford. I own a 21 MME and while it does get updates over the air, they regularly break something else in the process, or turn off a feature you use regularly. They are getting better but I would not say it is great by any stretch of the imagination...
  3. Apple Announces Porsche Support For iPhone Car Keys

I have a 21 MME and use PAAK exclusively. That being said, if my phone is in my back pocket when I approach the car it can be hit or miss if it connects. Phone in hand is usually not an issue.
  4. From a BMW i4 to a Macan 4 - here's my comparison after 10 days......

Thank you for the review. Both the i4 and Macan are on my short list for next vehicle
  5. Beware Costly Bird Strikes

Not the first time I've heard that. It can be a bit polarizing I guess
  6. Beware Costly Bird Strikes

I'm happy with mine. I do agree it charges slow and makes road trips much longer than I would like. I'm at 104k+ miles so it's time to start looking for a replacement. that's why I'm here...........really like the Macan
  7. Beware Costly Bird Strikes

on my car, yes 2021 Ford Mach E. Not familiar with how or why on the Macan
  8. Beware Costly Bird Strikes

Mine open on really hot days when DCFC
  9. Beware Costly Bird Strikes

I drive a Mach E. I got hit in the grill by a piece of truck tire that got kicked up by the car in front of me. Louvers were damaged but didn't seem that bad. Replace the louvers and be done. Wrong. It is one piece across the whole front of the car, cooling radiator directly behind them was...
  10. Out of Charge and No Place To Go

Hey, just want to make sure that any of my comments are not to demean you or imply you screwed up in any way. We are all learning to manage these situations. Sound like the dealer did you a solid by grabbing a new car and just didn't think to check it's charge. EVs are new to most manufacturers...
  11. Out of Charge and No Place To Go

I just want to add that I think the dealer did you a disservice by letting you leave with a loaner that had little charge. That should not have happened, IMHO
  12. Out of Charge and No Place To Go

I always take mine on trips just in case. Other than plugging in at my parents place I have never had to use it. It does carry piece of mind tho
  13. Out of Charge and No Place To Go

I'm glad to see the on board nav takes into account much more than just distance. I've only been driving an Ev for a little over 3 yrs now and I learned a lot on this journey. Back up plans are your friend when traveling. Never rely on just your first choice to be enough. My FIL recently...
  14. Out of Charge and No Place To Go

Yes. Also, the EA app (for example) will tell you how many chargers are available, working or occupied for a given location. I generally try and have a couple of options planned out and not just assume a given location will be fine
  15. Financing vs Lease

Unfortunately finance or lease are my options. I am able to put a sizable down payment but not the full amount.
  16. Financing vs Lease

I used to think a lease afforded a cheaper monthly payment as well. Looking at Porsches site, the monthly numbers are much closer than I would have expected
  17. What functions does the passenger screen do

I thought for road trips it would be nice to have the passenger enter/monitor that stuff. Still not sure it's worth the $1500
  18. What functions does the passenger screen do

Can you do everything on it that a can be done on the drivers screen? Trying to decide if it's worth the $1500 price tag
  19. Charging when not in use for 7+ days

That's the way my Mach E works. If it's plugged into the home charger it will maintain the 12v battery. I plug the car in every day whether it needs charging or not and so far I have not had an issue with the 12v. Still on the original one in fact.
