The technical issue is not surprising, but the tone deaf letter sure is (not unlike a lot of responses here on the issue saying "it doesn't matter to me, so why should it matter to you?")
They are confident it will meet everyone's needs? It is actually the appropriate solution and the joke is...
Agreed here - as I see the similar (yet slightly different scenarios) - one that sticks out on mine is it has is a very large discrepancy on range - 80% SOC and range of 60-80 miles. If someone's is more like 200 at that SOC, it may be balancing is all that is needed.
My question exactly - and they said "Porsche wouldn't approve replacing the part if it wasn't confirmed as needed by the diagnostics" and after my follow up of is this a known issue or is this step one in the troubleshooting it was "there can always be more work after this" - pretty much as...
FYI that I heard back from the dealer, and they said they had to order a new "control module" and gave a mid September date as the earliest it would be delivered... pretty frustrating, on the time it will take (and the fact this is one month in...)
Not disagreeing with anything you said, but after 4 years in a Taycan and following common issues, this seems to be something Porsche never had a problem with in general. So my guess is this is fundamental (or caused by a specific set of events) rather than a bug - but hope I am wrong!
I'm sure we all agree on this point - this issue is something very different than the imperfect algorithm of the predicted range changing based on the historical data the system has...
New data point for me - today I charged for a bit at an EA station (after doing a PCM reboot, which not surprisingly did nothing of note...)
Charge still limited to ~34kw, though i did enable compatibility mode and it moved up to ~39...) My charge session was for 14.4 kWh, and my SOC both...
I am in almost the exact situation.
- Had a Taycan 4S CT for the last 4 years, lease ended in June.
- Macan 4S was new July 1st. Drove ~500 miles the first two weeks, everything pretty normal. DC charged twice, once at EA, once not. Both similar to Taycan charge rates (between 100 and 200)...
Did you ever find out anything on this issue? I think I am having the same issue - my specifics:
- New 4S (under 1k miles.) I had a 2021 Taycan 4S, lease ended, into the Macan now. So plenty of experience seeing the range change under different conditions - this is different.
- Left for a 10...
