I’ve had my new Macan EV for about a month, so far only has ~2500km. Started noticing rattling noises inside rear compartment and the roof. Brought to Porsche servicing, they said two clips were missing in panel B, so they placed clips. They looked at roof, said they resealed the weather strip. When they delivered the car back to me, both sides of roof rubber stripping were off and were hanging inside the car (see pictures). Simply unacceptable. Returned to Porsche, they said they are ordering screws from Germany which will take 2 weeks. At the mean time, car is returned to me. And now there’s a rattle coming from the front dashboard. I read some of the forums here and tried pushing on dashboard speakers, front panels, etc. no luck. So have to return to Porsche again.

I also note that I have the same problem of the passenger front seatbelt (when not being used) hitting the plastic panel, and making knocking noises when driving. This is such an obvious simple fix that Porsche should have attended to without anyone complaining.

All in all, I’m very dissatisfied with the new Macan EV. This is my 5th Porsche, I traded a Taycan for this Macan EV, which is a mistake. The trims, assembly, etc are certainly not of the quality I would expect from Porsche. And I previously owned Macan GTS, and two 911s. And have not had troubles with my previous Porsches. Want to emphasize that this vehicle cost way over $120,000, and I expect much better quality control for a “premium” car. I hope Porsche Canada will read this post and reach out to me. I’m not letting this issue go, I will escalate the complain, and hope that Porsche won’t lose me as a long-time loyal customer.

Not saying what’s happening is normal and you have no reason to be upset of course… I’m with you, this is not ok.

But your odds of getting a resolution to your satisfaction are infinitely higher if you contact Porsche directly versus hope they somehow stumble upon this post. No?

Best of luck!

Thanks, yes I’m raising the complain to the local Porsche dealership. And will call Porsche Canada myself if they don’t deal with this adequately. But I also want to add my rattling noise concerns to the numerous others that have been posted, so potential buyers can see the issues. And if Porsche care about their sales and reputation, they have to address the problems asap

We're a few people that have had issues that are far worse than yours without any response from the dealer. Do yourself a favor and do NOT wait for the dealer to fix your issue and call your GA.

I have a rattle in the dash board as well, I posted in another thread. In fact this rattle is alive only in rough surface roads. Another one is coming from the instrument cluster, I dont know if anyone can hear this rattle, you can easily reproduce by pressing the plasic case of the cluster.

I am dealing with a noise issue (vibration/resonance) almost certainly

coming from the roof near the rear passenger door. It’s been on and off for a year now. Only problem is that it’s on when I drive and off when the dealer service techs drive. In fact, I have just returned from the dealership test drive and the noise did not reproduce… and it was making the noise just last evening! Attaching a short video of the noise during my drive … you can hear it in the first 10 second of this video.
Would love to hear if fellow owners here have any suggestions on how to address this!

@sharmitzer I've got exactly the same sounding rattle in my Turbo. It happens when I drive over rough surface. I was able to isolate it to the rear right passenger door. I only started a week ago for me. I assume because temperatures have come down here in Belgium by about 10 degrees.

To fix it, I added a piece of velcro strip between the door and upholstery and that stopped the rattle, both when I tap it (see picture below) and drive it.

My left hand door does not have this problem.

I'm unsure whether to go to the Porsche Center for this. I don't expect this level quality from Porsche.

Hi @Jeroen. Thanks for sharing. So you isolated your problem to the door itself? Glad you found a way to get it to stop.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m looking for a diy solution … because the dealership has been of 0 help.
My best guess is my noise is from the roof area… no idea how to insulate/dampen that area.

@sharmitzer My gf and I were driving on the road and as we passed a rough patch of road, I asked her to locate the sound. She put her hand on the side of the rear passenger door and it stopped. Later I narrowed it down by tapping on multiple places on the door until I got the exact same noise. After which I added the velcro strip.

Sound travels in weird ways in a car: I first thought the sound was coming from the back head rests or trunk. Not the side of the doors...

One way to find rattles is with an acoustic camera. Unfortunately, those are largely used for safety inspection in large installations (hissing leaks etc) so they typically cost in the five digits.
Although this hackaday project did it DIY for < $300: https://navat.substack.com/p/diy-acoustic-camera-using-uma-16

Hey Jacqueline,
thanks für sharing your pictures. They helped me to fix the roof rattle problem in my Macan. And that was quite easy. I took a Torque Wrench with a Tx25 and loosened the both screws that are only visible when you remove those rubber strips. No need to completely remove the screws. Loosening is enough. The glas roof comes down a little bit. You need to manually lift and level it while tightening the screws again. I tightened them with 5Nm and that's it. No noise anymore. Loosening and re-tightening the screws is the solution.

I recently started hearing a rattling noise coming from the back. It turns out the rear hatch latch required lubrication (per a service bulletin), and the noise is now gone. Also, the left rear hatch strut was binding and now as a result, is loose. The dealer ordered a new one as it needs to be replaced. Those rear struts do not look super high-quality so when I noticed the binding sound when opening and closing it I monitored it and sure enough it got worse. Just noting here in case anyone is noticing the binding sound on your reach hatch struts.

How/where do you remove the rubber strips? Worried I won't be able to get it back in :)

Just did this around all doors, and including the drivers arm rest (jammed felt tape around the plastic edges where it touches the metal door frame). Fixed so many rattles thank you!

Note that some of the rattles are more common during the cold weather season.
I also got rid of the passenger door rattle by jamming acoustic foam in between the edges of the lower door plastic panel and the metal door frame. However, I also had to place it between the upper outer edge of the lower plastic panel and the armrest to completely get rid of it. There is a thread by @cottony showing this fix.
