As mentioned all cars draw from the same source, it is just another strategy …
If you want you can always up the charge target when you start pre conditioning, so the percentage will not drop …

There are pros and cons to both methods, it’s a bit of a tempest in a teapot to complain about 1-2% but I understand why it is annoying for someone who wants to prioritize max charge over anything else.
I agree this is just an annoyance. One thing I'm not sure about is this observation it kicks on after 2% drop. I remember during winter time leaving home with 96% battery with target set to 100% which is not optimal if you are going on a roadtrip and SoC in freezing temps with go down fast. Perhaps there were other factors in play.

You can avoid this by not charging to a 100% and when you start pre conditioning manually before departure you up the charge target to 100% … of course you need to have 11kw charging, otherwise this will not work.

Not if you are at 100%. Even if the statement on strategy is correct, it still makes no sense why they would do significant discharge before topping it up and yield the inconvenience of waiting for the top-up to complete.

that is why you charge to 95%, better for the battery and you can up to 100% and start the preconditioning … if you have 11kw charge capabilities 😉

this seems to depend on the charger. i did set the taget to 80 yesterday and to pre climate the car to 24c. when i checked my app he car has been at 80%. but i could not leave yet. i added an other hour of pre climate. my charger was on “paused”. the bat level dropped to 78 and the car started to resume charging to 80 by itself.

Had a charge up today whilst shopping... yeah, I had a good laugh at the car's optimism

UK is cooling, so without trying I'm seeing 280 miles - my old I-pace would be showing about 200. So 40% more from essentially the same size battery. in my view very impressive.

Hey guys! I haven’t seen my car for 6 months, so sorry for the delayed response 🤣

This is for November month with winter tyres 20” (studded!).

Mine will show around 300-320 miles at 100% but of course that's mostly meaningless. The only time range matters for me is on road trips, and we'll never get that driving 75-80 MPH on the highway. 250 is a more realistic max driving highway from 100% down to 10%.

That is pretty nuts for that condition I do not even get that in mild weather on 20 inch … of course it’s a Turbo, but driven normally I would not expect it to be so far off, seems the bigger engine is more hungry. Curious what the new software will do, hopefully I’ll get it installed when I enter it for recalls later this month …
